2010-2011 Student Activities

The College-Bound
-JS has accepted a scholarship and offer to attend the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
-AN has successfully transferred mid-year into the music program at CNU.
-AK was offered the Wallfried Scholarship at from the department of Music at the University of Mary Washington.

-JS tied for 3rd place in this year's Army Band Young Artist Competition. She performed the Ibert Concerto, mvt. 3.
-LD received Honorable Mention (4th place) at this year's Asian American Music Society's International Competition, (pee-wee category).
-LD received 3rd place at this year's Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair's Honor's Competition, (elementary category).
-MF and MB won spots in this year's Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair's High School Flute Choir Competition.

-LD organized and held a benefit concert for the victims of Japan's earthquake and tsunami.
-RP regularly visits and plays her flute for an elderly shut-in couple.
-MR played both piano and flute at a nursing home. And she had just started playing flute a few months prior!
-LD plays her flute monthly at her church.

VBODA activities
-MF, RP, MB & KH qualified for their respective All-County Bands.
-MB, AK, MF & KH qualified for their respective All-Distric Bands. Of these students, MB & KH were first chair in their respective district symphonic bands.
-MB, EW, MF, AB, MR & KH participated in their districts' respective Solo and Ensemble Festivals. All 5 students received 1's.

Congratulations to all students on a year of hard work. Well Done!
